WHat is emdr?

“EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019). EMDR therapy has even been superior to Prozac in trauma treatment (Van der Kolk et al., 2007). Shapiro and Forrest (2016) share that more than 7 million people have been treated successfully by 110,000 therapists in 130 countries since 2016.” - via EMDR International Association

CONSULTEE TESTIMONIALS

  • It is my pleasure to provide a testimonia of my experience as a consultee with Elizabeth Sanchez. Elizabeth was reliable and provided a safe environment that allowed me to be vulnerable during consultations. She provided various effective techniques that I currently use with my clients today. Elizabeth listened, I felt understood and supported during consultations. Not only did I learn ways to help my clients; but I also learned a great deal about myself. I am grateful to have had Elizabeth as my consultant while I worked on my certification process; and, it is with confidence that I can recommend her to anyone who is working on the training or certification hours.

  • I was apprehensive about using EMDR with my clients after basic training because the trainers were firm about EMDR being a rigid, stick-to-the-protocol model. I reached out to Elizabeth to consult and she helped me not only understand EMDR in a more foundational way, but also helped me integrate it seamlessly and authentically into my practice. So grateful for all that I’ve learned in her individual and group consultations!

  • As a CIT in training working with Elizabeth has been not only developmental but refreshing to connect with a Latine professional that can understand the nuances of our community. Elizabeth provides guidance that is informative and can explain the variations of EMDR to an extent that I haven’t experienced before. Thank you, Elizabeth! I have become a better EMDR therapist and consultant (in training) because of you! Highly recommended!

  • Elizabeth Sanchez has been a wonderful consultant. Elizabeth has help me grasp EMDR concepts and understand how to be an overall better provider. With her help, I have grown in confidence and competency. Elizabeth takes an educated, well-rounded, and kind approach to her mentorship. I always feel respected, informed, and heard when interacting with Elizabeth. She comes to meetings with creative ways of problem solving, viewing cases, and strengthening skills. I look forward to our meeting because I always leave feeling stronger and like I can go out and be a better therapist. I would absolutely recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking to strengthen their skills as a therapist.

  • I had the most beneficial experience having Elizabeth as my EMDR consultant. She has a wealth of experience and it’s refreshing to consult with someone who is gentle, knowledgeable and encouraging of developing your confidence using this modality. She challenges you to really assess the overall client experience and keenly observe nuances that help improve rapport building, increases efficacy in using model, and fosters helpful learning opportunities.

  • Private Practice Consultation

“Liz Sanchez has been an invaluable source of encouragement since our initial connection. Although I had some foundational knowledge about growing my practice, she offered fresh insights and practical information that proved incredibly helpful during our consultation. Rather than creating any sense of competition, Liz consistently demonstrated genuine support and a sincere desire to see me succeed in my work as a therapist”

    Elizabeth Gallo, LMFT

  • Out of State licensing Private Practice consultation

I strongly recommend Elizabeth to anyone who is looking to either work through a rough patch in their life and get assistance in getting licensed in a different state. Elizabeth is amazing and smart, well-versed in many different practices and spectrum of LMFT/ LCSW. She listens with her full attention and makes connections with love that helped and guided me in the right direction. Thank you for taking the time to listen and help me with my anxiety and the many unanswered questions I had.I just got licensed in the state of TEXAS, and it was all because of your expertise and guidance.

    Patricia Pasillas, LCSW

  • EMDR Certification Consultation

Working with Elizabeth and receiving consultation for EMDR was very helpful in my development as a practicing EMDR clinician. The knowledge and experience that I gained from her input, suggestions, and modeling of EMDR resources was extremely valuable. I highly recommend her to clinicians on the EMDR certification journey, and particularly to Latinx clinicians who could benefit from her expertise working with Latinx clients.

    Susana Stewart, LCSW
